Deja Vu – Have I Been to Pamplona a Before?

Magnificent Pamplona

August 26, 2015 – Day 4

Wow, What a Walk!

I have to say that today was exhausting but peaceful and serene at the same time. The walk in total was 22 Km but the extreme heat, sun, and fatigue made it seem so much longer!

I am getting tired of the single beds, waking at the crack of dawn, and sharing rooms with 100 others. It is only day 4. SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP, It is a pilgrimage! Lol

I have discovered that each different guide book gives you a different walking distance for the day, so you really have  no idea how far you walk except that it is much longer than stated, UGH!

TODAY WE SAW AMAZING SCENERY

  1. SANTA LUCIA CHURCH.        Today, I came across a VERY old church. Santa Lucia. It touched me a lot.  It was so bare due to being looted in the 16th century, but yet stunning!
It dates back to the 12th century. A South African couple bought it and kept it as a heritage site and are currently very excited about restoring it.

The Sltar was destroyed but you still see sea shell symbols painted on the wall. It was an ancient church pilgrims worshiped in.

  1.   SMALL TOWNS ALONG THE WAY

  1. THE SERENITY OF WALKING

There are thousands of other pilgrims. Each day is ritualistic. We pack, prepare our feet, grab a coffee, quick food, load up water and head off. All day you hear and say Buen Camino to so many others. The Camino shows what the world can be like if we were simply just kind to each other. Language, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. mean nothing. Pilgrims are people watching out for each other, helping each other, and simply being kind to each other, SO EASY!

Among all these people are quiet and peaceful places to walk.
