IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK!
The dictionary definition of serenade is as follows;
serenade
[ser-uh-neyd]
noun
1)Â a complimentary performance of vocal or instrumental music in the open air at night, as by a lover under the window of his lady.
2)Â a piece of music suitable for such performance.
The “Camino Serenade” is slightly different, just slightly. It is complimentary and no payment is ever expected.
It differs for two factors. One of those factors is that it’s not really instrumental music, but it is musical.
The other factor is that if you actually did this to try to get a date, you would  most likely not be very successful.
The “Camino Serenade” is very special, can never be replicated, involves more people than a small musical group, and no 2 songs or melodies are alike!
The “Camino Serenade” only happens in the still and quiet of the night!
During the “Camino Serenade”, the musicians are unaware of the individual instrument they play or how their own music blends with the other musicians! It really is magic!
In my experience, the band members change nightly, so does the music (if you can call if music)!
It most likely only occurs when there are two or more people sleeping in a room. It usually is the loudest, the most vibrant, and the most interesting in an Albergue!
There is no stage and all musicians must be sleeping. The most lyrical music happens when the bedding arrangement is like this (see below);
I want you all to know that myself nor any of the members of my group have participated in the orchestra of the Camino Serenade!
Have you guessed what it is?
Flatulating, burping, coughing, sneezing, snoring, and mumbling  are the main instruments! Only special serenades include a throat clearing and/or a sneeze.
Gosh it’s just lovely!
KEEP WALKING!
