We Seem to Keep Following “TOWN FESTIVALS” and Parties!

Another Sleepless Night?

This was a GLORIOUS day and much shorter of a walk than yesterday! We did 20 km today, not over 30 like yesterday. My foot is killing me and I had a hard start today. 2 more days until Burgos, then a day to relax and tour that GREAT city.

We pulled into Belerado at 2:30 pm. Our Albergue is a “True Joy”. OMG SHOOT ME!  My headboard is beside the door to the only bathroom that services 64 beds! Yippee! Tonight is the final night of the Festival of Belerado! ALL NIGHT PARTY WITH MUSIC AND FIREWORKS! I just want 1 good sleep!

I had to laugh when I checked in, paid my 8 Euros for my bed, and slugged myself upstairs to find my bed. I had the bed beside the washroom. The first few times pilgrims got up to use the washroom and made loud and horrible sounds as they were going to the washroom, I was mad. After the 7th or 8th time, it became hysterical.

At 2 am the young couple in the row of bunks beside us must have thought we were all sleeping as they decided to have sex right there in the bunk! Between their bunk squeaking and rocking and the folks in the bathroom peeing and farting, It was truly a memorable night.

All of us woke up an hour later as we were awoken by a Mariachi Band playing music under our window!

I have to say the ordinary Spanish person is incredibly kind and caring. As we walk by, we say ” Buenas Dias” and they always reply and/or say it first. THEY ALWAYS REPLY WITH BUEN CAMINO!  So very kind to us all!

KEEP WALKING!

  1. Well Dan I must admit that I did chuckle with your unfortunate bed location. You are looking in good shape on the outside! Hopefully you will get a restful night eventually.
