Goodbye Pamplona, Hello Zariquiegui!
We all left Pamplona today and only hiked about 15 Km to the small town of Zariquiegui. I can’t even pronounce it. Lol
It is quaint and just lovely!
This is my accommodation for tonight ! NOTHING Special!
LOL!
Pics of Walking Into the Town Today!
I really enjoyed the hike up and over the rolling hills. The sky was overcast and there will so many wonderful shades of green in the fields.
I was simply exhausted today and thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon nap. I RARELY nap! Today it was necessary!
I’ll miss Pamplona! It was one of my favourite places. I loved that city last time I walked the Camino, and I loved it even more this time!
The people of the city are amazing! They must see thousands and thousands of Pilgrims walking the Camino each year, and yet they still honk, wave, and wish you a Buen Camino! It is really nice.
Today, I was daydreaming as I walked and missed the trail markers. A really nice man came running up to me and guided me back to the path. He was so kind and helpful. I wondered how many of us he helps back to the path in his way to work each day.
Today, I met a young man who is walking the Camino to honour his dad. Last year his father hiked all 800 Km, and upon arriving in Santiago, he got his photo taken at the cathedral. He meant to register the following day and get his certificate, but he died of a heart attack that night.
His son is hiking it with his dad’s backpack, and doing it in his honour. It’s a sad but lovely story!
I wish him well and I will light a candle for he and his family. He is such a nice guy!
Its time to have a beer and replenish my electrolytes!
