We Even Watch Out for Animals as Camino Hikers!
Today was a long hike – 27 Km. I only did 18 Km and got a ride for the last part. My left foot was just aching and I had to stop.
I am not concerned about taking a taxi for the last. 9 Km because I still have over 300 Km to hike!
I loved the day today! The scenery was gorgeous!
Scenes From Today!
This morning we walked over 10 Km through vineyards and we saw a dog who we could tell clearly had puppies recently. We didn’t notice at first she was following us. We thought she was just sniffing out the ground!
We did become concerned as we hiked each Km. Shortly after her following us, we realized she must have been lost. She was in distress! It just broke our hearts! We figured she was lost and looking for her puppies. She was such a sweet dog!
She followed us and other hikers for over 10 km into the next town.
Luckily there were some Spanish-speaking hikers who had also noticed her. They were able to go up to the restaurant owner and get them to call someone from animal rescue to come and get the dog.
We fed her some food and we were very relieved when they came and put a leash on her. She calmed down and began to smile!
We were able to see that she was calm and happy, but we still have no idea if she’ll ever make it back to her owner because she had no collar.
She was gorgeous!

KEEP WALKING!
What a pretty dog! Dam I’m surprised you didn’t adopt her on the spot. She may have been a lost soul walking the Camino with you, but it could have been part of her journey to remind you — of your big heart ❤️.
