WOW, WHAT A DAY, AND WHAT A JOURNEY THIS WAS!
I am sitting in my hotel room at 10:30 pm in Santiago, Spain! I splurged and got a nice room for a few days!
These are some things that I can look forward to for the next 3 days:
- king size bed with real cotton sheets!
- no rubber mattress or rubber pillow
- Air that moves in a room
- no one’s snoring, burping, farting, coughing, sneezing, or emitting any other body sounds
- a hot shower with real soap
- shampoo
ALL Of THE THINGS ABOVE ARE GREAT BUT WHAT REALLY COUNTS ARE THE FOLLOWING:
Over the next  3 days I will enjoy the luxury. I WILL ALSO ENJOY THE FOLLOWING THE MOST;
- saying hi and bye to the many beautiful people I met while on the Camino that made me laugh, cry, and every other emotion in between
- sharing laughs, memories, stories, and tears with fellow pilgrim friends
- being there to see the smiles on pilgrim’s faces as they enter the Cathedral Square
- enjoying this vibrant town of Santiago!
- going to Finisterre ( the end of the Earth), and completing my 934 Km crossing of Spain
- ENJOYING THE HOSPITALITY AND KINDNESS OF THE SPANISH PEOPLE WHO WELCOMED US, AND ENCOURAGED US ALONG THE CAMINO
Today I completed one of the most challenging things I have ever done!
After crossing Spain and travelling over 800 Km ( most by foot), I received my Compostella. Mine is in Latin and signifies my completion of one of the 3 Great Pilgrimages of the Catholic Church (many non-Catholics walk this and for more many reasons).
MY COMPOSTELLA
The Cathedral of Santiago!
The Pilgrins Mass was very touching even though it was in Sapnish! The video above shows the monks swinging the ornate incense burner – Botafumiero!
i had a GREAT DAY in Santiago! I am sore, I ache, I am tired, but I also am so very happy!
The Following Beautiful people are still out there walking and finding their way to Santiago!
HELEN, ANGELA. ALISON, ANN, KATHY, DENISE, SHARON, and CARI !
Buen Camino and I hope to see you before I leave!!
KEEP WALKING!
