Small, but Beautiful is how I Describe Burgos!
It has one of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever seen. The photo above is a panorama shot of the city from the old ruins of the 9th Century Castle. The castle was built high atop a hill overlooking the valley and the small city of Burgos!
The Cathedral
I would say that the recent events of the terror attack in Barcelona have left us all very sad.
It’s hard to go out and enjoy such a beautiful city knowing that another part of the country is suffering terribly and that that pain really stretches across the entire country of Spain.
Burgos is magnificent ! It’s charming, full of history, with friendly people, and tons of history. Â It’s a great place to come and rest in and explore.
I was having some ankle pain which was really protruding up my leg and causing me to limp a few days ago when I was walking.
I decided to leave my group and come here for a couple of extra days. It allowed me to enjoy 4 nights of rest and time to really explore the city which I did not have time to do when I was here last two years ago.
Over the next day or two, I will post more pictures from this gorgeous city. Â Sunday is the day that we hit the trails again and start hiking across the plains of Spain! Although it is said that the ” rain in Spain lies mainly on the plain”, Â at this time of year it’s just hot dry and can be a gruelling place to hike each day.
I’m going to continue to going to the Cathedral and say prayers for this country, and the victims of the terror attack in Barcelona.
I will also spend the next few days exploring things I’ve never seen before in this lovely city!
Total Tracker Steps over the last 2 days = 23,976
KEEP WALKING!
great place to recoup… have you tried Burgos Morcilla yet… comes in a sausage, rather then mousse i.e. Leon
Take care of that ankle, get a brace if necessary. If it turns black, you know you are in trouble… sorry, couldn’t resist.
Remember ice, and voltaren are your friends. Hugs Ingrid
