The End is in Site!

I Can Almost Hear The Sounds of Santiago de Compostela!

I am so very close to finishing this section of the Camino – the final section!

On May 31, we will arise and walk the last 4.5 Km into Santiago de Compostela! The Plaza in front of the Cathedral sees hundreds of hikers/pilgrims daily! BUT I AM NOT THERE YET!

I have been quiet the last few days. I’m healing a sore knee and doing well. My journey this time has been very different.

It began with me arriving in Spain with a severe head cold and sinus congrstion. It made hiking very difficult. I have finally recovered and finally feel good.

Everyday the weather reports rain and thunderstorms. I DESPISE HIKING IN RAIN!! Luckily, we have dodged it all but we have walked daily with the threat of rain! I just want some sunshine, which is something hard to find in most of Spain right now.

Tonight I am in O’Pedrouzo. Tomorrow is a mere 14Km to Hike. Today was a lovely hiking day despite the noticeable increase in hikers.

The Camino Trail is jam packed! The route usually gets busy at Sarria because several different routes merge there.

You also have those who have chosen to walk 110 Km ( shortest distance possible to get a certificate ) and that starts st Sarria. It is very busy!

Today was damp but beautiful. My leg pain prevails. My doctor thought I might need surgery upon my return. I feel he is right.

I can easily hike 10-12 Km, but after that the pain is unbearable. It makes slow walking very difficult!

Here are photos of the hikes the last 2 day ( 46 Km );

– Palas de Rei to Arzua

Arzua to O Pedrouzo
