London: A Leisurely Day …. almost

What Does Leisurely Mean When You Are Away?

My Morning

I started my day back at Buckingham Palace at the King’s Gallery for an historical presentation of Royal photographs! I was not allowed to take any photos.

It was really fantastic! Not only did I get to see rare and historical photos, they focussed on the photographer. I enjoyed learning about style, lighting, the development process, and changes to all over time.

I did notice some interesting omissions!

  • any photos of Diana were of her and her children only. No wedding photos (despite it being the wedding of the century). There was not one with her and King Charles.

  • there were multiple royal weddings throughout history photographed, but I guess because of the sensitive nature of Charles and Diana as well as Camilla and Charles, they omitted any of their wedding photos?

  • There were many photos of King Charles and Camilla, but no wedding photos.

  • I couldn’t find one photo of Harry and Meghan anywhere!

I did find that really strange because there were many photos of Queen Elizabeth’s uncle who abdicated, and was suspected of  siding with Nazis! To me, that just showed that subject was less sensitive than the whole Charles / Diana / Camilla love triangle.

Another walk around the very crowded Buckingham Palace led me to the Canadian Gate. It is right beside the palace and the war memorial for Canada.

The Canadian War Memorial

It’s a very quiet and peaceful memorial. Water just gently trickles on both sides from the top all the way down to the bottom. As you look at the water closer to the bottom Maple leafs are embedded into the cement and more at the bottom at the top and they just shimmer in the water

My Afternoon of Leisure Will be spent at the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge. Details to follow!
