Where is Bilbao, Spain?
Welcome to Northern Spain!
Its only 2:45 am and I’m blogging! My flight from Toronto to Zurich landed yesterday at 7:00 am. I then had a 4 hour layover before my flight here to Bilbao. I was pretty exhausted and starving upon arrival.
Yesterday was a warm sunny day, so I quickly showered and headed to the river to see the infamous architectural masterpiece – The Guggenheim Museum.
I really loved what I saw of the city along the way. I noticed a real mix of gorgeous old and new architecture, large Plazas (Piazzas in Italy), and many art museums.
I didn’t notice how tired I was until I was done city hopping around 6 pm!
A Bit About Bilbao:
Bilbao, an industrial port city in northern Spain, is surrounded by green mountains. It’s the de facto capital of Basque Country, with a skyscraper-filled downtown. It’s famed for the Frank Gehry–designed Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which sparked revitalization when it opened in 1997. The museum houses prominent modern and contemporary works, but it’s the curvy, titanium-clad building that receives the most attention.

The True Joy for Me was Seeing the Guggenheim Museum!
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao:
It is a museum of modern and contemporary art designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, and located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. The museum was inaugurated on 18 October 1997 by King Juan Carlos I of Spain. Built alongside the Nervion River, which runs through the city of Bilbao to the Cantabrian Sea, it is one of several museums belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and features permanent and visiting exhibits of works by Spanish and international artists. It is one of the largestmuseums in Spain.
I was blown away photographing this yesterday!
It is now 3 am and I payed down at 7:15 pm. I crashed for 6 hours!
Hopefully I can sleep again! I’m posting on Facebook and Instagram too, but I write more detail here!
KEEP WALKING!
Like always your pics are wonderful and I love how you tell a story about a place. Ultreia!
