SANTIAGO or BUST !
I had another lovely walk today from Triacastela to Sarria. The weather was PERFECT! It was blanketed in sun, the temperature was in the mid twenty’s, A cool breeze was blowing, and a lot of the walk was shaded with the forest canopy. I walked with 3 lovely Canadians from Niagara Falls, Ontario. We shared many laughs.
We did have one small, but steep climb early in the day. We fell in love with scenery as a mist was rolling in the valley. Eventually, I walked right through that mist.
Sarria is an interesting town. Â It seems big after a day of walking through Pueblos and Pueblacitas. Â Many of the various Camino Routes merge here. This is the last 100 Km before reaching Santiago. You only have to walk the last 100 Km to get your Compostela. Many people start here. Many 5-Star bus tours let people begin to walk here. The # of Pilgrims is significantly more today.
Apparently, this September has brought in the highest # of pilgrims in years! With only 4 walking days left, beds are in demand. I am choosing single rooms for my last week!
I am afraid my last 4 days will be the toughest. I have severe pain on the bottom of my right foot. It is slightly bruised on the ball of my foot, and each step, each rock I land on is excruciatingly painful. Â I will CRAWL to Santiago if I have to!
TODAY’S TERRAIN!
These next photos will hopefully show that beautiful valley mist rolling in and how much closer I was getting to it!
These are some of the forest trails that I walked today.
I have some other great photos to share. I passed this really run down old church, but it was beautiful inside.
I am currently at a cafe drinking my 2nd beer (STRICTLY for medicinal purposes) and replacing any lost electrolytes from hiking.
The waiter just told me that another draft will get rid of my foot pain! LOL Â I knew that!
CHEERS MATIES!
KEEP WALKING!
I AM GETTING CLOSER TO STEP # 1,000,000!
I am at step # 975,376
I MAY REACH 1,000,000 tomorrow! Â Stay tuned!
Love following you on this marvelous journey of yours. Pictures are exquisite. Wish I could make the hurt go away. Waiting to celebrate the million-mile mark!!!
Fantastic idea your wise waiter had. Beer works to relieve foot pain. You have taken beautiful photos. Thanks.
You can do it Dan as 100 km is nothing after what you have gone through. Do you drink the beer or rub it on your feet!!
You will do it!!!!
Dan what a remarkable accomplishment. You are so close and come so far. You will get there. We are all cheering for you. May I ask you a favour. I know that you are praying for everyone on you pilgrimage, however I have a special intention for when you reach St James Cathedral. Our school needs a major intervention. It is getting quite difficult and we need a Divine intervention. Please pray for the teachers and the students who are working so hard yet it seems to be in vain. Give us strength to continue and prayer that it will soon get better. It has to. It just does. I will focus on you and all other intentions on this last leg of your journey. Thank-you Love always Marcella and Marty. XOXO
