PERSONAL REFLECTIONS OF MY JOURNEY:

What is a ” Camino Family?”

I am not certain how to answer that except to say I would not trade mine for anything (including Dieter, Ann, and George who have moved on).

I knew from all my planning that THE CAMINO provides for all pilgrims in many ways.  It is said that the Camino gives you what you need, NOT what you want or desire. It is up to each pilgrim to figure out what to do with, and decide why you need the very thing(s) that the Camino gives you.

I was given a Camino Family very early on in my trip. I have been EXTREMELY THANKFUL for that gift. My Camino family has patiently listened to me for almost 400 Km! Sometimes I have difficulty listening to myself!

Thank You Helen, Alison, Kathy, Angela ( and those who have moved on: George, Ann, and Dieter)!!!!!

None of you can imagine how your kindness, caring, and empathy have touched me. I feel I have made life long friends!

Through sharing stories with you, I confirmed all my beliefs that I love and adore my family at home! All I ever wanted was for my own mother and father to be proud of who I am as a person. You have no idea what life has in store for you, you just deal with it as you can. I WILL NEVER DOUBT THAT MY PARENTS WOULD BE PROUD OF THE PERSON I HAVE BECOME.

Kathy misses her hubby and you can feel the love there. I witness an incredible mother/ daughters bond daily with Angela, Alison, and Helen. Love does conquer all   for this special group.

Helen even finds those special times to remind me what is like to have a mom again after not having one for 42 years!! Thanks Helen! xo xo!

I miss my family and love them all dearly!!!

The Camino is not done with me yet!  I know it has more in store for me and all of us!

I am so thankful for this opportunity! Spain has won my heart! The countryside, the people’s pride in their nation, and the kindness the Spaniards demonstrate towards pilgrims daily is WONDERFUL!

VIVA ESPANA!

KEEP WALKING!

TOTAL FITBIT STEPS TAKEN TO DATE: 605,505!

I AM MORE THAN HALF WAY TO 1 MILLION!

  1. This is the first thing I read when I woke up this morning and now you have me crying!!! We are all very proud of you, your parents included. They are with you every step of that walk. Love you xo

  2. Wonderful Dan. There is a point along the way, I think, when you can claim to be a true Pilgrim. Your there! Your words and sentiment express one of the real gifts that the Camino gives. Welcome – Pilgrim!

  3. Dan,
I am so proud of you and honoured to call you my friend. You brought me to tears today. Your journey has brought out the true pilgrim in you. Your insight is thought provoking and inspiring. I’m in awe of you! Your parents would be beyond proud. We all pray for you to be strong and healthy for the rest of your camino. God bless you.
