Another Wonderful Day in Spain!
Day 13 – September 04
Last night In Ventosa, the kids were out playing until late at night. They kept many of us up at bedtime. I was fine because the loud sounds of kids playing reminded me of years at work. I just ignored them.
We had a great walk from Ventosa to Azofra via Najera. It was very cool today and overcast. We chatted and laughed the whole way!
The first thing we saw was an Olive Tree over 1,000 years old!
PHOTOS OF TODAY’S WALK!
This morning we met Tutti the donkey who is also walking with his master to Santiago. Tutti is staying at our Albergue tonight! I think Tutti likes me! Maybe he thinks I am just another ass!
Tonight’s accommodations are very basic. I am not overly impressed but there is nowhere else to stay unless I walk 15 Km more! Ugh! Despite the look, it Is clean.
Tonight is FESTIVAL NIGHT! Apparently music, drums, fireworks, and church bells will be going off all night! Â YIPPEE! We are hiking during the Harvest Season. In Canada, we celebrate the harvest with a national holiday, Thanksgiving. Here in Spain, each town celebrates their harvest with an all night long music, food, and dance festival!
I also had to buy brand new shoes! My Merrill  Shoes split inside by the heel in both shoes! HORRIBLE QUALITY as they were brand new! Overall, it was s good day but the town of Najera was very industrial and not so fantastic!
This is our wine at dinner, 4 Euros! Â Great Wine!
KEEP WALKING!
Stayed there myself Dan. Slept like a log after a long walk. Sorry too hear about your shoes and hope that the new ones are working out.
