Morning Tea, Beach Walk, Seals, Lunch, and Boating the Norfolk Broads, Wow!
Daily Itineray Given by Our Host
Each night, our host June, gives us the planned Itinerary for the day! My friend Lorraine and I never what we are doing the next day until the night before!
I could never have imagined how special this would be. We started our day with tea and scones at the Poppyland 1940’s Tearoom. This was a place dedicated to all the men and women who participated in wars fighting for Britain, including even Canadian in Americans! Oh the home baked cakes, and scones were delicious!
My next stop was at The Horsey Sand Dunes and Horsey Beach! The natural dunes bordering a stunning beach were spectacular! We went for a long walk along the beach, which is very well-known for several thousands of gray seals spending time on. There were many seals in the water as we first started, and then we encountered groups of them on the beach. Â I can honestly say that entire experience, fabulous weather, nature, scenery, and time spent with amazing friends made this day extraordinary!
Horsey Beach was truly beautiful. I was like a little child filled with excitement upon seeing the Grey Seals! As we walked from one section of the beach to the other, we noticed that the seals were hovering close to shore and looking at us. At times, I swear a few seals were following us. As we moved further along, and the beaches became more secluded from people, we stumbled upon the seals on the shore! I was ecstatic and I posted a video in my Facebook post!
My amazing day with my friends continued. We drive to the town of Horning for lunch and then we had a 90 minute cruise in The Norwich Broads. Our boat was a Mississippi Steamer!
What Are the Norwich Broads?
The Broads National Park is a unique mosaic of gentle landscape, lakes and rivers covering 303 square kilometres.
Despite comprising only 0.1% of the UK the park area boasts more than a quarter of its rarest wildlife.
Iconic mills and historic landmarks nestle among miles of waterways, fen, woodland and footpaths while idyllic towns and villages dot the wide landscapes. The broad, shallow lakes are man-made rather than natural. They began as pits dug for peat to provide fuel during medieval times and filled over the centuries to become the boating playground we see today.
